Chess Coach Essentials: Mastering the Art of Coaching
The Day & Knight Chess Club Coach Training program prepares coaches to be professional, active, kind, and continually improving their chess skills. Level 1 Coaches must be punctual, disciplined, and composed, handling tasks like attendance, setup, instruction, cleanup, and student supervision, with no phone use during duties. They should assist students, manage behavior, stay active, and treat children with care and patience, reporting any violent behavior immediately. Continuous improvement in chess skills is encouraged, with participation in weekly chess arenas. Level 2 Coaches guide the class, delegate tasks, deliver lessons, correct mistakes, engage students with puzzles, and manage time effectively. Level 3 Supervisors, with at least two semesters of experience, maintain class standards, rotate schools weekly, assist with duties, and report to supervisors. This training ensures coaches foster a positive learning environment and help students grow through chess.
